Northshore Zipline is one of Maui’s premier activities companies. This is a rare chance for visitors to see historic photographs, WWII military jeeps, planes, and historical signs, therefore reminding visitors that they are in an actual former military training area.

History

Military history at Northshore is an inescapable truth. Visitors are invited to learn more about the history of World War II and the role that Camp Maui played. The United States Marines’ Fourth Marine Division was responsible for playing a vital role in the ground invasion of Iwo Jima. The troops who became known as ‘Maui Marines” or “Fighting Fourth”, were tasked with taking possession of Mt. Suribachi, a critical occupation point in the quest to curtail Japan’s war efforts.  To highlight the success of the mission, visitors can see an iconic photo that was featured in the New York Times of “Old Glory” being raised over the beak of Mt. Suribachi, a testament to the sacrifices and victory of the “Fighting Fourth”.

The Course

Northshore Zipline is 7 lines of explosive fun. The course takes place amongst the dense canopy of giant eucalyptus trees. You will zip across lush vegetation and travel across jungle bridges and platforms as you go from one line to the next.  The longest line is over 900 feet long with heights of up to 70 feet. Each zipline can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. If this sounds too exciting for you, don’t worry. Northshore Zipline offers a Scardy cat clause and will offer you a full refund if you do not wish to continue after the first two lines.
