The Hyatt Kaanapali Luau, also known as the Drums of the Pacific, is the best Maui resort luau in Kaanapali. The Sunset Terrace provides the backdrop for the wonderful Drums of the Pacific luau. With a recent upgrade to the grounds, the Drums of the Pacific has created a spacious seating arrangement that is comfortable with great views of the show. Luaus on Maui are a cultural activity that shares the history of Hawaii in the form of dinner theater.

With so many influences shaping the culture of Hawaii, a luau provides a great opportunity to understand how the Hawaiian people became who they are. Thousands of years ago the islands that makeup Polynesia came together as one in Hawaii. From Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, Cook Islands, and elsewhere in the South Pacific are the ancestral roots of Hawaii. It is from here that our story unfolds. Ancient Hawaiians didn’t have a written language. History was told through stories that became the origins of hula dancing. Through the graceful movement of the hula dancer the myths, legends, and history of Hawaii were told for thousands of years.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel presents the Drums of the Pacific Hyatt Maui Luau, an exciting journey through the history of the culture of Hawaii. As the sun sets into the ocean and the beat of the drum signals the beginning of a festive night of entertainment with a show that includes dances from all the major Islands representing the Polynesian culture. Your Kaanapali beachfront evening will be enchanting as the story of Hawaii is relived through song and dance. The Drums of the Pacific has added an additional Samoan fire-knife dancer closing out an outstanding show in dramatic fashion.

VIP Seating at the Drums of the Pacific Luau

With the upgrade to VIP seating, you can skip the line at check-in, receive a fresh plumeria lei for the ladies or a kukui nut lei for the men, and sit closer to the stage. These seats sell out first, as they are limited. If you are planning to select this seating at the Hyatt, book as far out in advance as possible.

Standard Seating at the Hyatt Maui Luau

Standard seating at this captivating and fun Kaanapali beachfront luau is also known as regular seating. These tables are on the 3rd row and back. But not to worry, the stage is elevated which allows for an unobstructed view of the stage. A portion of the area designated for the standard seating style is also elevated. The luau grounds are only about 60 feet deep. As with all luau menus, the Hyatt Luau features all the staples from ancient Hawaii with a variety of tasty treats that delight your senses.

The Hyatt Regency Luau in Kaanapali offers a 3 course plated dinner. There is no buffet. All courses are plated and served to you. Starting with cold dishes pupus, salad, etc. The main entrees come next with dessert being the last course.

This luau fell nothing short of amazing. We did VIP seating, and would definitely recommend doing this option! You get to enter the luau first, get a beautiful lei, and get to sit so close to the stage. All of the dancers were great, and we all loved the fire knife dancing. There was a group of us and we all got to sit together. If you're looking for a great luau on Maui, Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt Regency Maui is superb.

Whole family loved the show! Amazing music and dancers. Watched the performance while enjoying a tasty luau pig dinner. Lots of different kinds of food, buffet style. The servers were incredibly friendly and accommodating to my son’s peanut allergy to insure his safety. Also got an amazing family photo taken before the show. If you’re staying on this side of Maui be sure to check it out!!

The show was very entertaining. However it was overpriced. The show was long and could have been cut down a bit. The actual show was wonderful the dancing was very entertaining. The food was good but the drinks were watered down heavily. There are three categories of seating. VIP, Preferred, and general admission. VIP gets seated first, then Preferred. They are seated at long picnic table style seating. The food is served buffet-style and there are two tables of the same food soon don't be afraid to go to the back table it's the same food and the line is shorter because everyone thinks there's only one table. You have a waiter assigned to the table to bring you drinks and he will be expecting a nice tip when he's done. When the show is over you get to take pictures with the actual dancers.

It was okay. The grass skirts were all unnatural colors, like they were plastic, not grass/straw. Food was....fine. Had better had worse. Seating was cramped. Long tables (think high school lunch) where the seats were arm rest on arm rest. Waiter was nice, drinks after the initial walk in drink were heavy pours. The part of the show after dinner, was a sales pitch disguised as a fashion show. The dancers were all quite talented and put on a good show. The venue was off the beach, you could hear the waves but couldn’t see the sand or water. Overall, I had a fun night and I’m glad I went. It’s basically a “play” with a stage and all. Not sure I would go again but was worth the price of admission.
