Movie Theatres on Maui
When visiting Maui, you’ll discover that it has a little bit of everything, including movie theaters. While the activities, shopping, and restaurants are great sources for entertainment and many don’t think to enjoy a movie while in paradise, who doesn’t enjoy a trip to the movies? The 4 movie theatres on Maui offer a wide selection of movies and showings. Our favorite being the Maui Mall movies.
Regal Wharf Cinema Center
The Wharf Cinema Center is on the west side of Maui in the historic town of Lahaina, and directly across from the renowned 60-ft. Banyan Tree. It is a multiplex movie theatre featuring first-run movies showing daily. This Maui movie theatre is in need of a little repair at this time though, while still a good option if you don’t want to drive to the other side, this critic isn’t a fan of the seats.
In addition to watching a movie, plan to spend your entire day in the area. Discover the work of local artisans or explore the specialty shops that include an outlet store, art gallery, or book store as well as locations that offer custom jewelry, woodworking, embroidery, and massage. Satisfy your appetite with a refreshing shave ice or coffee or take time out for a full meal at one of the many restaurants that offer a variety of menu options.
Learn about an important part of Maui’s historic pineapple and sugar plantation era during a tour of the Plantation Museum, located on the upper level of the Wharf Cinema Center. Across from the Wharf Cinema Center is the Lahaina Harbor where the Lanai snorkeling tours and Lahaina dinner cruises depart from as well.
The Wharf Cinema Center is located at 658 Front Street, Lahaina, HI. Area parking is plentiful, with many nearby businesses offering validated parking. Public transit is also available.
Regency Kihei Cinemas
Kihei is located on the south side of Maui at 1819 Kihei Rd, Kihei, HI, in the Kukui Mall. This theatre features four separate auditoriums and is equipped with comfortable electric recliners with reserved seating available. The Regency Kihei Cinemas is open daily and has multiple showings of premier movies as well as viewings of specialty independent films on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
While the theatre is the main attraction of Kukui Mall, there’s also Starbucks, Waldenbooks, Coconut’s Bakery and Café, and family-friendly sit-down restaurants. Just across the street is a popular swimming spot, the Kalama Beach Park.
Consolidated Ka’ahumanu 6 Theatres at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center
Ka’ahumanu 6 is inside the mall near the Arts and Cultural Center. Movie presentations are available daily. Theatre amenities include mobile and print on demand tickets, Dolby surround sound, quality 4K digital projection, luxurious leather seats, reserved seating, listening devices, wheelchair accessibility, and free parking.
Of the things to do on Maui is the Kaahumanu mall. If you’re feeling the urge to spend time at a conventional mall before or after taking in a movie, you might consider the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. Located in Maui’s largest city, Kahului, the “Queen K Center” offers more than 100 restaurants and stores.
With retail stores including American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret, GameStop, Macy’s, and Foot Locker, along with a food court, eye care center, spa, museum, and children’s activity center, local farmer’s market, and free hula shows, this is the go-to place for local residents and visitors alike.
Regal Maui Mall MegaPlex
Centrally located in the city of Kahului, the Regal Maui Mall Movie Megaplex features 12 theatres, comfortable premium stadium-style recliner seating, and the newest film releases shown daily. Ticket purchases can be made online or at the box office daily beginning at noon. Of the Maui movie theatres, this is definitely our favorite.
Maui theatre and mall is convenient to the airport and Kahului Harbor at 70 East Kaahumanu Ave., Kahului, HI. The mall offers special community and cultural events throughout the year, many of which are free. Additionally, you will find a plethora of other venues including retail stores; restaurants; a yoga and dance studio; mobile phone, shipping, and banking services; hair salons; and, the leader in organic and natural foods: Whole Foods Market.
After spending a day at the movies and shopping, visit the Fun Factory for an evening finale of video games and prizes.
The movie theatres in Maui offer a deviation from the beach or the perfect way to enjoy a rainy day. Likewise, the nearby shopping and other activity choices convenient to the theatres can provide a welcome change of pace from the action-packed adventure vacation. The bottom line, there are lots of choices all around Maui.
