Christmas in Hawaii
Have a Blue Christmas on Maui
Christmas is a great time of year to visit Maui! The winter months are a few degrees cooler than the summer months and with gentle trade winds and calm waters, the climate is perfect. Maui’s most famous visitors, the humpback whales, are officially here during Christmas and there are an abundance of opportunities to watch these amazing creatures. Here are a few of our favorite things to do around Christmas on Maui.
Take a Picture with Santa (And Give Back to the Community)
You can get a FREE picture taken with Santa Claus for you and your little ones, all you need to do is bring any canned food for donation to the Maui Food Bank. The Maui High Video Club will be setting up Santa’s workshop at the Maui Mall in Kahului at unit B-12. Pictures are available on these select dates: Dec 5, 5:30-7:30pm; Dec 12, 5:30-7:30; Dec 15, 12-5pm; Dec 19, 5-7:30pm; and Dec 22, 12-5pm
See the Christmas Lights on the Banyan Tree in Lahaina
Christmas in Hawaii wouldn’t be complete without a Christmas tree. This will be one of the biggest single tree Christmas decorations you’ll ever see. The Banyan Tree in Lahaina is a huge, its the biggest Banyan Tree in the Pacific and covers over an acre of ground. While you’re checking out the shops on Front Street, make sure you catch the Banyan Tree at night for the colorful decorations.
After Christmas with Steven Tyler
Maui resident and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steven Tyler will be putting on an extra special performance on Maui on 12/27 at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului. Christmas in Hawai wouldn’t be complete without some great entertainment and Steven Tyler definitely knows how to put on a show.
Sentry Tournament of Champions
Don’t miss your chance to see the best of the PGA Tour up close and personal at the Kapalua Plantation Course on Maui. Every January the PGA Tour kicks off its season with all of the previous season’s champions competing in paradise to be the first winner of the year. A beautiful venue, fan-friendly pro golfers signing autographs and taking pictures, and the beautiful humpbacks playing gracefully in the ocean make this an awesome event to attend live.
